Psalm 118:19-29

¹⁹^(A)Open to me the gates of righteousness,
    that I may enter through them
    and give thanks to the Lord.
²⁰This is the gate of the Lord;
    ^(B)the righteous shall enter through it.
²¹I thank you that ^(C)you have answered me
    ^(D)and have become my salvation.
²²^(E)The stone that the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone.^[a]
²³This is the Lord's doing;
    it is marvelous in our eyes.
²⁴This is the day that the Lord has made;
    let us rejoice and be glad in it.

²⁵Save us, we pray, O Lord!
O Lord, we pray, give us success!

²⁶^(F)Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
    We ^(G)bless you from the house of the Lord.
²⁷The Lord is God,
    and he has made ^(H)his light to shine upon us.
Bind the festal sacrifice with cords,
    up to ^(I)the horns of the altar!

²⁸You are my God, and I will give thanks to you;
you are my God; I will ^(J)extol you.
²⁹^(K)Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!

The Coming King of Zion

⁹^(A)Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
    Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
^(B)Behold, ^(C)your king is coming to you;
    righteous and having salvation is he,
^(D)humble and mounted on a donkey,
    on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
¹⁰^(E)I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim
    and ^(F)the war horse from Jerusalem;
and the battle bow shall be cut off,
    and ^(G)he shall speak peace to the nations;
^(H)his rule shall be from sea to sea,
    and from ^(I)the River^[a] to the ends of the earth.
¹¹As for you also, because of ^(J)the blood of my covenant with you,
    ^(K)I will set your prisoners free from ^(L)the waterless pit.
¹²Return to your stronghold, O ^(M)prisoners of hope;
    today I declare that ^(N)I will restore to you double.
¹³For ^(O)I have bent Judah as my bow;
    I have made Ephraim its arrow.
I will stir up your sons, O Zion,
    against your sons, ^(P)O Greece,
    and wield you like a warrior's sword.

11 ^(A)Now when they drew near to Jerusalem, to ^(B)Bethphage and Bethany, at ^(C)the Mount of Olives, Jesus^[a] sent ^(D)two of his disciples ²and said to them, “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, ^(E)on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it. ³If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.’” ⁴And they went away and found a colt tied at a door outside in the street, and they untied it. ⁵And some of those standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” ⁶And they told them what Jesus had said, and they let them go. ⁷And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it. ⁸And many ^(F)spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut from the fields. ⁹And those who went before and those who followed were shouting, ^(G)“Hosanna! ^(H)Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! ¹⁰Blessed is ^(I)the coming ^(J)kingdom of ^(K)our father ^(L)David! ^(M)Hosanna ^(N)in the highest!”

¹¹^(O)And he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple. And when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, ^(P)he went out to Bethany with the twelve.
